Introduction

When CTC opened its doors in 1980, factory floor automation was just starting an exciting revolution. CTC was a pioneer in that revolution, providing the industry with ground-breaking hardware and software products that helped take plant floor operations from simple/start buttons up to the sophisticated networked solutions found today. By providing the automation industry with these innovative human-to-machine (HMI) solutions for the plant floor, CTC certainly offered machine builders "The Shortest Distance Between Man and Machine".

In 1998, the company became a division of the Parker Hannifin Corporation. As part of the Parker team, CTC has the resources to make an even stronger commitment to meet emerging trends on the factory floor with product solutions.

The drive toward open solutions and PC-based machine control is fueling yet another revolution on the plant floor. And the CTC Division is again pioneering the way with its unique PC-based machine control solution. You can count on CTC to continue to deliver products like these that will make the distance between man and machine even shorter.

Unsurpassed on the Factory Floor

Within the plant, there are several levels of display-based applications. These range from plant floor applications that include machine control and operator stations up to management applications that consist of plant floor supervision and MIS.

Priorities for plant floor and management applications vary greatly and require very different product solutions. CTC focuses its efforts directly at meeting the needs of the plant floor, and develops products that include features such as real-time response, high reliability, deterministic control, and ease of development and support in addition to providing the ability to connect with the MIS area for analysis and planning purposes.

Building Hardware and Software Solutions as Your Single Source

It is not difficult to find a company that makes software products for the factory floor. Nor is it hard to find a company that can provide hardware solutions. But automation users today need a company that can provide both products and bundle them together as a single solution. Not only can CTC provide this bundled solution, but because the hardware and software are designed under the same roof, CTC’s engineering team can optimize them to yield the best possible system performance. A single source supplier for PC-based machine control /HMI hardware and software also benefits the machine builder by simplifying integration, support, and training efforts.

CTC bundles PowerStation hardware and Interact HMI software together, and it also now integrates MachineLogic PC-based control. CTC is truly a single source for PC-based control / HMI solutions.

Now with the Global Strength of Parker Automation

CTC’s headquarters in Milford, Ohio house all of CTC’s product development, manufacturing and customer service operations. When CTC joined the Cleveland-based Parker organization, it became stronger than ever before. Fueled by the resources and global strength of Parker, CTC delivers products and support that are truly world-class.

World-Class Engineering and Manufacturing

Quality products that squarely meet the market’s needs don’t just happen. At CTC, we combine the resources and technologies of the Parker organization, an in-depth knowledge of the market’s needs, the ingenuity of the product development team, and a quality-focused manufacturing group to deliver the best product possible.

CTC’s "Build Quality In" philosophy is evident throughout the entire engineering and manufacturing process?from the very beginning of the product design process all the way up to the time the product is shipped out the door to the customer. Every CTC unit is subjected to a full suite of testing that simulates the harsh environments on the factory floor, and all of the major certification agencies give CTC’s products their stamp of approval.

The manufacturing team also tests each unit before it is shipped using a unique 100% system "burn-in" in which the unit is thermal and power cycled over a period of time. It is quality-driven testing like this that builds in the reliability you need on the factory floor.
